Easter at the Baltic Sea

The seaside resort Warnemünde and the Rostock Heath celebrate Easter with old customs, a colourful family programme and the Easter Bonfire right on the beach.

Programme

Festivities get underway with the decoration of the Easter tree, to which all children are invited, and during which the Easter bunny will also stop by. On Thursday the Hanseatic City of Rostock’s forestry office invites visitors to enjoy an Easter hike through the Rostock Heath. On Easter Saturday, for the opening of the season tourists and holidaymakers will conquer the lighthouse in Warnemünde in order to enjoy the view from a lofty height. The highlight is the traditional Easter Bonfire that lights up the Warnemünde beach on Easter Saturday and immerses the dream backdrop with the lighthouse and Teepott (teapot) in atmospheric light.

Easter also makes its arrival in the Rostock inner city. About 80 market stalls and showmen are expected as guests at the Rostock Easter Market and they will be presenting culinary delicacies, artisan craftwork, Easter gifts and merry-go-rounds.
