Just 15km west of Rostock is the small town of Bad Doberan, which was once the summer residence of the Dukes of Mecklenburg. The Gothic church of the former Cistercian abbey is worth a visit.
While driving to Heiligendamm, the oldest seaside resort in Germany, you can admire the longest linden road in Europe. Parallel to this are the tracks of the “Molli”, a narrow-gauge railway that has connected Bad Doberan with Heiligendamm since 1886 and with Kühlungsborn since 1910.
