Warnemünde Week

Warnemünde Week in the Hanseatic City of Rostock – colorful summer festival meets top sailors

From 7th until 15th July 2018 the 81st edition of the maritime festival and sailing event will take place. Warnemünde Week is among the largest international sailing events in Germany. About 1,800 sailors from around 30 nations meet annually in Warnemünde for high-powered sailing as well as surfing and kiting competitions on the water. In addition, the cultural supporting programme also attracts more than 650,000 visitors to Rostock’s seaside resort every year. A major festival parade with traditional costumes for the opening ceremony, festive supporting events, sports offers such as a beach handball tournament, show programmes, live concerts, dragon boat festival as well as a “shanty & folkloric costume gathering” will make guests and sports enthusiasts equally active.

Since recent years the sports and beach arena is the „place to be“ for skimboarding, yoga, fitness, stand up paddeling, Kubb an even beach tennis. Visitors have been increasingly enthusiastic about joining in these activities at the white sandy beach. Highlights on the water in the year 2018 will be: World Championships of the OKs, European Championship of the A-Cats, International German Championship of the Corsairs, the maritime regatta around Bornholm island and regattas with a long tradition: Warnemünde-Cup & Mecklenburger Bäderregatta. For 2018, a total of 208 moorings of 43 different cruise ships are expected. Already eleven attempts will happen during 81st Warnemünde Week, so that almost every day one or two "ocean giants" can be admired. Warnemünde opens its harbors, welcomes all curious guests and sends out a cultural and sporting message into the world.
