80th Warnemünde Week in the Hanseatic City of Rostock anticipates over 2,000 sailors

The maritime festival and sailing event enters its809th year during the period from 1 to 09 July 2017. Warnemünde Week is among the largest international sailing events in Germany. About 2,000 sailors from around 30 nations will meet in Warnemünde for high-powered sailing, surfing and kiting competitions on the water. In addition, the cultural supporting programme also attracts more than 650,000 visitors to Rostock’s seaside resort Warnemünde every year. A major festival parade with traditional costumes for the opening ceremony, festive supporting events, sports offers such as a beach handball tournament, a sport & beach arena with other trend sports, show programmes, live concerts, the “washtub” boat race, dragon boat festival as well as a “shanty & folkloric costume” gathering will make guests and sports enthusiasts equally active.
