Wind power - a catalyst for setting up business
With the exploitation of offshore wind energy, this industry is experiencing great economic growth. After the commissioning of the first commercial offshore wind park, EnBW Baltic 1 in May 2011 off the Baltic Sea coast of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, plans for the construction of the second offshore wind park in the German Baltic sea, EnBW Baltic 2, with 80 wind energy turbines, had already begun at the end of 2013. The offshore wind park with a 288MV output is planned for 2014/15.
The seaports in the region, such as the one in Rostock, are establishing themselves as production, logistics and service ports for the industry.
However, onshore wind energy and its planned development will also provide an extra boost to the industry in Rostock.
From project development to design, production and supply to service and maintenance, there are national and international companies across the whole supply chain available - foundations, towers, turbines, gondolas or rotor blade, all products are manufactured here: “Made in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania”.
