Since April 2017 Warnemünde has been offering a unique experience. In the scenery of harbour, shipyard and large pots, only a stone's throw from the town centre, electricity and beach, stands the first hostel made of upcycled, free-standing overseas containers, which look back on a fulfilled life on the oceans. The DOCK INN makes active holidaymakers, design fans, families and backpackers equally happy. An accommodation that has everything important on board and always stays nice and casual. And in November 2017 it even received the renowned "German Tourism Award" for this.
The DOCK INN offers 64 rooms with a total of 188 beds in four different container types: Spacious double rooms and practical four-bed rooms were created from 25 square metres of high cube sea containers. Two containers welded together result in spacious harbour suites or inexpensive eight-bed dormitories. The multi-bed rooms offer space for larger groups and are therefore perfect for friends travelling together, families with children, youth trips and school trips or surfers who want to talk shop in the evening about the perfect wave.
The lobby with its restaurant and bar invites you to drink and chill, the "galley" invites you to cook together. The "Fritz-Vinylbar" with the best records of North German bands, foosball table, Nintendo DS or the collection of well-tried board games provide for variety. To take a sauna, you go high above the roofs of the shipyard: with a wonderful panoramic view and at eye level with the captains* of the passing cruise ships, you can relax in the harbour sauna on the fifth floor. Rental bicycles are available for excursions in the surroundings. If you want to work up a sweat in bad weather, you can visit the "Felshelden" in the adjacent building: Whereas sailors used to climb into the shrouds, first-time climbers as well as experienced free climbers can enjoy a variety of routes in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's first boulder hall on 540 square metres.
